Real Life Reverse Thinspiration

I took a couple photographs discreetly one day in this café sort of place. Here they are:

A fitting white jacket: not flattering

Don't see it? Look at the fat drooping at the sock.
Top photo: I was sitting behind this obese woman, drinking my water until I turned my head and saw her. I was so disgusted I spat the water back in my bottle. Her fitting white jacket and the way her buttocks were drooping over the sides of the chair made me want to do something out of disgust that is beyond my imagination. She was so fat I couldn't even see what she was eating.

Bottom photo: Too tight socks. Really gross. He was eating this thick-bread dish spread with butter and other fatty stuff. This one didn't disgust me as much, though. He can blame it on old age, at least.

People, don't end up like those two! Fat people are the kind I hate sitting next to on trains(rapid transit type) and buses. Their fat just envelops you. You feel like you're being swallowed by them. So please, be considerate to fellow commuters and don't get fat!

First Week: How I Did It

I started on a Monday, weighing 63.4 kg. Remember, Monday is a great starting day for resolutions.

I ate really slowly, chewing food several times everyday. so I looked like I was eating a lot. My family didn't suspect a thing.

I counted calories with a phone app. It's called Calorie Counter from FatSecret. I use a Nokia, by the way. Looking at the numbers made me want to eat less.

I avoided carbohydrates. Too much energy, too many calories to handle.

I did 100 jumping jacks 30-60 minutes after every meal. Advice: Don't exercise right after finishing a meal. It will make you feel sick. I learnt that the hard way.

So I did that the whole week, keeping my reward in mind and reached my target: 62kg. Now that I've shown you I can do it (lose 1.4 kg in a week), so can you!

Motivate yourself and be persistent.

ED Bracelet Project

Have you gotten your bracelet yet? Do you have any idea what this is? If not, let me tell you:

Wearing coloured bracelets is a way for the eating disordered to recognise each other outside of home. It is an IFF (identification friend or foe) system for us. Each known ED has a colour of its own:

Red: Anorexia
Purple: Bulimia
Green: fasting at that time
Blue: depression
Pink: EDNOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified)
Orange: SIer (self injuryier) OR Black: Self injury
Orange and White: recovered SIer
Turquoise: Overweight/Obese
Ana Recovery-Red and Black
Mia Recovery-purple and black
Cutter recovery-blue and black
EDNOS recovery-black/green/blue

OTHER BRACELET REQUIREMENTS:
  • They have to be beaded.
  • Anorexics wear it on the right wrist, bulimics on the left. (I don't know about the other EDs, but there you go)
You can make or buy your bracelet. The size, length and shape doesn't matter, just as long as it fulfils the above requirements, it's fine.

Be careful when you go out, though. Don't assume anyone wearing a certain colour bracelet has an ED. Make eye contact with a fellow bracelet wearer first, then point to it. If that person points at theirs, you two know you're friends. A dead giveaway is a dragonfly charm on a bracelet. Dragonflies are a known symbol for EDs, so add one to yours if you can.

If you think you don't deserve to wear a bracelet because you're not worth it, don't think like that! You're worth it. A bracelet serves as a reminder to your goals and is a way to find a fellow eating disordered person to talk to, so you truly know you're not alone, instead of through the internet (for all you know, there could be posers!).

My own bracelet, which I finished making today, is pink and red: for EDNOS and anorexia. I know I'm eating disordered, but my disorder is not a specific one. When I was eight I think I might have had anorexia, triggered by comments on my body from my grandmother. I didn't know it was bad then, I know it now, but I can't help but have this kind of a relapse, hence the red in the bracelet: I'm more anorexic than the other EDs. The ratio of pink to red beads is 2:1. I can't post a picture on here in case my parents find out. They go on the internet a lot too, and this site is pretty easy to find.

Call me a wannarexic if you like, but I really don't want to have anorexia. Remember that. I have to keep hiding my condition from my parents and friends. Also, I don't like weighing myself more than nine times a day. It's an addiction. I just want to get thin. I've set my goal and I'm not thinking of giving up, because I am not one to give up. It's not me. I also want to avoid anything that will hinder me, therefore the hiding my condition from loved ones.

My Progress So Far

Hey, I lost 1.1 kg overall since Monday! Just a bit more until this week's goal: 62 kg. I want to finish of the rest of the 300 g by Saturday so I can go out and reward myself with something. I'm thinking of lip balm, since my lips are a bit chapped. I'm considering to buy one of these ones:
Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick from The Body Shop

Mango Lip Butter from The Body Shop
I absolutely love The Body Shop products. The company itself relies on community trade and fair trade, so I know the labourers who planted the raw ingredients are not abused. To get more information about these products, simply click on the pictures. It will direct you to the website.

Thing is, I can't decide between the two. I love chocolate, but I like the mango smell too. Right now I am inclined towards the Cocoa Butter Lip Care Stick, but I might change my mind later. I could resist chocolate cravings with this one, because smelling chocolate is almost as satisfying as eating it.

TIP: Reward yourself (not with food) when you've achieved a goal weight. Since you're hiding your desire to lose weight, no one is going to reward you, so reward yourself with small gifts. It can be very encouraging.

How it worked for me before: It was in May when I rewarded myself for achieving something I thought was great, which was getting a distinction in a maths competition. My parents were happy about that, but they're busy people, so they didn't give it much thought.

So, to reward myself, I spread cream cheese on a celery stalk to eat (weird combination, but I like it). Usually I eat celery plain, to reduce caloric intake, but spreading is okay once in a while, I guess. It made me want to work harder at maths, so I did. It's the summer holidays now and I'm going through some content I'll be learning next year. Now I love maths more than I did before (which was a lot, it's my favourite subject) I ate the celery with cheese. It's a kill-two-birds-with-one-stone thing. I didn't take in too many calories, and it gave me motivation to do maths better.

Don't Forget Discipline

I'm of a healthy weight on the high end, as my BMI indicates, but I'm fat, and BMI is a horrible, overrated, indicator. I'm fat and a bit muscular at the same time, which makes me heavier than most fat people. I'd like to lose the fat and let those muscles show to get a nice, toned body, like that rhythmic gymnast.

Anna Bessonova at the Beijing Olympics

Now, I'm not saying that Bessonova has to go to extremes (in terms of eating) to achieve her excellent body, she probably doesn't, but I'd say she is a good inspiration for all of us. Why? She is an Olympic athlete, and what all Olympic athletes have in common is intensive training and discipline

To lose weight, one needs discipline, like how athletes need discipline to maintain their strength, flexibility, agility and all that.

On a lighter note, I'd like to tell you that Anna Bessonova does her ribbon routines like magic. You can look them up on YouTube. Be sure to check out her training videos too. Below is another picture.

Anna Bessonova at the Beijing 2008 Olympics
The reason why I chose these pictures in particular is because the leotards she wore in those events are tight and white. They are definitely not flattering on fat pigs like me.

Another thing we can learn from Anna Bessonova and other rhythmic gymnasts is that stretching will stop you from getting too bulky. It keeps your muscles long and lean. It's hard to be elegant when you're not slender. That's the tip for today!

Love, Asteria

NOTES:

  • Anna Bessonova's height: 1.74m, weight: 49kg (as of date posted. Information taken from her Wikipedia page)

First Post - Introduction

Hey, this blog is for thinspiration. If you don't like it, then ignore this.

I have looked at other thinspiration websites and many come across to me as rather depressing and negative. I think that blogs need a balance of both positive and negative, as different readers work better with different motivation, so here I am, taking a new approach to thinspiration blog writing.

How you interpret this is up to you, but I'll tell you this: I do not promote eating disorders. I sincerely do not wish for others to get one. Honestly, this is just for myself, but you are free to use this as thinspiration. Enjoy!
